2023 LOLA Artisanal Series St. Helena Chenin Blanc
LOLA Chenin Blanc comes from vines nearly half a century old planted next to Revana and Grace Family Vineyards, just north of the town of St. Helena.
The grapes are small and concentrated on loose clusters, formed with a California sprawl canopy to allow for maximum airflow and even ripeness of the individual berries. In the winery, the grapes are whole-cluster pressed and the unsettled juice is allowed a native cool fermentation in old neutral French oak barrels. The finished wine is dry, fresh, bright, and crisp on the palate with aromas of jasmine, pear, and apple.
2023 marks the first vintage that we did a light filtration on our Chenin Blanc before bottling. The goal being to focus the precision of this wine giving a better chance to show its beauty as it ages. Seth considers our Chenin one of the finest white wines that we produce and expects it to evolve and age beautifully for decades. After 8 vintages working with this varietal, he now believes that filtering it will give the wine a better chance to project its beauty over the long term. 120 cases produced.
