2024 LOLA Artisanal Series Rutherford Melon
Grown on just two rows—0.2 acres—of rocky alluvial soil in Rutherford, this tiny planting of Melon reflects a true sense of place. Originally from Burgundy but best known today in the Loire Valley, Melon is prized for its crisp profile and quiet elegance. Here in Napa, it takes on a new life. The vineyard, also home to Vermentino, is certified CCOF organic and regenerative, and is farmed with great care and intention. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed, with the unsettled juice undergoing a native cool fermentation in old neutral French oak barrels. The result is a refreshing, high-acid wine with bright notes of Asian pear, green apple, and key lime, lifted by soft white florals on the nose and a Meyer lemon zest on the finish. Pure, textured, and full of energy.
